Park condition Saturday 3/15

Posted by Brian, Jessie, Bear and Tootsie on March 16th, 2008

It is very wet around the 2 most popular gates.  The south end is currently the dryest and entering from 28th avenue is dryer than using the gates.  For pictures of park the condition click on link below to see my Flickr 22 photo gallery set “Airport Dog Park March 15, 2008″  http://www.flickr.com/photos/dogpark/sets/72157604131503891/

Has anyone been to the park today?

Posted by Mastiffpup on March 13th, 2008

HI, I was wondering if anyone had been to the park today (March 13)? Could you let me know if it is still really icy, and if there are a lot of puddles. I am assuming it is pretty muddy, but thought I would check to see if anyone knew. Thanks.

Week of February 10

Posted by Devon & Chaz on February 14th, 2008

Last night’s storm left a couple of very welcome inches of fresh powder, helping to provide some traction and cover an embarrassing blight of dog turds (we have GOT to do a better job of picking up, people!).
There are spots, though, where the new snow barely covers the underlying icy snowpack, and it can slip [...]

Week of January 27

Posted by Devon & Chaz on January 28th, 2008

Warmer temperatures are thawing out the park, leaving scattered patchy areas and a gigantic puddle near the main gate. Rain is forecast for tonight, followed by a sharp drop in temperatures to single digits again. This will make the remaining snowpack glossy and extremely slippery on the trails. YakTrax are highly recommended!  Diamond Lake Hardware [...]

Week of January 6

Posted by Devon & Chaz on January 6th, 2008

We gots us a thaw, and it’s starting to get sloppy at the dog park. There was still snow cover as of today, but I expect we’ll see patches of wet ground this week if the temperatures continue to stay mild–and especially if it rains.
Blech.  More snow, please!

Week of December 23

Posted by Devon & Chaz on December 24th, 2007

Just when warmer temperatures threatened to turn the property into a slushy soup, single digits have returned, along with a few inches of fresh powder.
Walking paths are glossy under the snow, however, so it’s time to break out the YakTrax, especially for climbing the steep slope along the northern fence line. (I’m looking at you, [...]

Week of December 9

Posted by Devon & Chaz on December 9th, 2007

If you bundle up enough, you’ll find splendid winter conditions at the dog park these days. The snow is packed along walking paths but still granular for safe traction. The formerly flooded nature trail is now walkable again, and what used to be swamp is frozen solid and covered with pristine snow.
It would be perfect [...]

Week of December 2

Posted by Devon & Chaz on December 2nd, 2007

Snow at last!  And, the edges of the lake are finally frozen and no longer tempting my dog over for a mud bath. We have been able to walk the perimeter again, after several months of sticking to the high ground.
The weekend storm left only 3-4 inches of snow at the park, so walking is [...]

It’s wet down there

Posted by Brian, Jessie, Bear and Tootsie on October 6th, 2007

As you can see it’s wetter than ever at the AirportDogPark.  Yesterday & today I gathered 4 bags of garbage while enjoying doggie time at the park.  I removed almost everything from the fence (tie wires, zip ties, water soaked notices)  I did leave the Airportdogpark.com notices (looking a little water logged), poop bag holder,  keys, and a [...]

Jet Fuel in Marsh Water?

Posted by phruden on September 28th, 2007

My dog ran down to the marsh yesterday and started lapping up water.  I was told that the airlines dump jet fuel into this water.   Does that mean there is significant jet fuel in the ground/woods as well?  I have concerns about bringing my dog to this park now.
Thanks.
