It seems that unprovoked attacks are getting more common here. This weekend we watched Honey attacked a dog 1/6th his size. even sadder was watching the look of horror on the little girl who was there with her mom for a nice day at the park..until Honey came along that is…it was sad to see an owner who had NO CONTROL over their pet…even after grabbing ahold of Honey..the dog broke loose and continued attacking….This dog should be banned from the park….and its owner retrained on how to control their dog….I will certainly be glad to show Honey what its like to have something 6 times their size attacking them…..Â

Which Honey is it? I know of a Westie named Honey and a Golden Retriever…
As the owner of Honey, the little white westie, I can assure you that it was not my dog attacking any other dog in the park. I do remember seeing the Golden Retriever named “Honey” at the park on Saturday, as well as about 50 other dogs.
Yes, there were tons of dogs out there on Saturday and it was an accident waiting to happen. It was the first time I’d been out there with as many dogs as there were that day. I was extra vigilant with my dog and the 2 others I brought along that day. I did not hang around the most congested areas and instead took to the trees and the lesser travelled areas.
If there are guidelines posted here on this site I’d like to see them, and it would be good if they were made available via flyers at the park.
Greetings,
Belinda and “Honey” (the Westie) from Holland

Dear Slugger,
I can feel your anger and disappointment with inattentive owners with aggressive dogs. I know it’s frustrating … remember most get along fine and love it. The number of visitors has increased over the years and it makes that small percentage of problem encounters more of an issue. Have any good ideas about how to handle these situations safely and effectively? Please read latest post regarding etiquette and Tips for Breaking up Fighting Dogs and provide any additional information you have. I am trying to setup a guide to protect owners and dogs.
Can you give any descriptions for our protection and tracking them down? We should have a reasonable conversation with them and try to resolve this issue.
Hang in there… The dogs are depending on you.
