I work for the MAC and have noticed that dog owners are leaving poop on the fence and not taking it with them.  This is not acceptable.  Several of our senior staff have commented on that and are not pleased with the situation.  Please let everyone know that they need to take their poop home and not leave it on MAC property.  Also, many of you put your poop bags on your windshield wipers and it has been coming off and litters the roadway.   That isn’t acceptable either.

I am a dog owner also and understand how much you love bringing your dogs here – I don’t want you to lose access to this property and if this behavior continues, there may be consequences.   Please spread the word.

Wouldn’t it be great if, once every couple weeks or so, each of us could bring along a trash bag and collect all these bags? I’ll take one the next time I come.
I’m not encouraging people to leave their bags on the fence, etc., but perhaps we could just take turns to place a garbage bag or collect a garbage bag and dump it in the receptacle at Bossen Field.
I’m bringing trash bags as well as poop bags next time!

How ’bout the rest of you?

p.s. By the way, on 52nd street and 28th Ave. you can drive over to the opposite lane and just toss your poop bag into the bin from the car!

Agreed 100%! I try to pick up stray poop bags (not just on the fence, but all over the park) as well as “lost” poops still on the ground – I like to call it “keeping the poop karma going”. And thanks, belindaloo, for the tip on the trash bin!!

To MAC, thank you!!!

I’ve just come back from the MAC park, which I and my two dogs throroughly enjoy AND appreciate. I’m putting a roll of tall kitchen garbage bags in my car – vanilla scented – and plan to start bringing one in every time to pick up the strays. I’ll probably take some bags someone was going to come back for, but as long as it leaves the park it’s all good.

I’m also putting a lidded bucket in my vehicle for transport back home or to whatever appropriate trash container – one that contained cat litter. That way my interior is “safe”, odor and everything else is contained – others might consider a similar method of transport!

Problem is getting the message to the folks who don’t check this website….

I’m collecting poop bags at the dog park, too, when I think to bring a larger bag along. Been finding beer cans and liquor bottles recently, too.

All the slobs that don’t pick up the poo are ruining the park for everyone. A clean up should be scheduled sooner rather than later. Can’t imagine MAC being pleased with the way it is now. Can we leave signage in the park to recruit clean up volunteers and/or remind people to pick up and take the bags with them (or is that frowned upon by MAC?)

The MAC would prefer if we didn’t put signs on the fences. They have allowed our blog sign to stay up because it’s in the property’s best interest if dog owners have a way to communicate with each other.

Outside of using this site, word of mouth and maybe putting flyers under windshield wipers, I’m not sure how else to publicize it.

Something to say?
