Overall, the grounds are in great condition. The recent rains have left very few wet areas–just a small puddle by the main gate and another one by the marsh at the end of the runway. Unless we get more rain over the weekend, I expect they’ll both be gone soon.
The grass is lush and thick, and getting a bit too tall in places. If it weren’t for my retriever’s nose, we would have lost our Chuck-It ball many times over. While lovely to look at and nice for the dogs to roll around in, the tall grass poses something of a walking hazard as it now conceals the varmint holes. I twisted my ankle in one while walking down the slope by the sewer stack. Watch out for hidden critter holes all along that hill.
On the lower grounds, new cattails are now knee-high, sprouting up to replace the broken and trampled dead cattails from last season at the edge of the marsh. The foliage is so thick along the nature trail that the path is almost covered over in places. The recent days have been cool and dry.
In short, it’s perfect dog park weather. Enjoy!
